Travel recommendations for special medical needs

Travelling during pregnancy

Pregnant passengers can fly with atestravel  without a medical certificate up to the 29th week of pregnancy and go straight to the check-in counter if their pregnancy is uncomplicated. From the 29th week, a medical clearance is required. This also applies to high-risk pregnancies, for example in the case of multiple births.

Taking medication with you

Medication and customs regulations: If you are carrying medication or injections, such as insulin syringes, in your hand luggage, it is recommended that you carry a medical certificate confirming the need for the medication.

Loss of medication: Ask your doctor for a list of your most important health information - for example, your blood type and a precise list of medications (including the names of the active ingredients). This information is particularly useful if your luggage is lost. Also take all documents with you that could facilitate medical care abroad. Your health insurance company or your doctor can advise you on this.

Storage in hand luggage: Pack your medication in a shock-proof manner and, if possible, divide it between several pieces of hand luggage. It is advisable to take 1.5 to 2 times the amount of the medication you need with you in order to be prepared for unexpected flight delays or detours - even during the flight.
